A combination is an arrangement of r objects chosen from n distinct objects, without repetition and without regard to order

$ _{n}P_{r} = P(n,r) = \frac{n!}{(n-r)!} $

$ _{n}C_{r} = C(n,r) = \frac{n!}{(n-r)!r!} $

To summarize, in a permutation the order matters, in a combination the order doesn't matter.
