The gradient of the line is $-\frac{b}{a}$. Therefore, using the method of EXAMPLE 1, its equation is $ay+bx=ab$

Dividing through by $ab$, the equation becomes

$\frac{x}{a}+\frac{y}{b}=1$

Which is known as the intercept from of the equation of a line.

Surround your text in *italics* or **bold**, to write a math equation use, for example, $x^2+2x+1=0$ or $$\beta^2-1=0$$

Use LaTeX to type formulas and markdown to format text. See example.
